LESSONS

How should I go about booking a lesson?

You can book through our Facebook page or our website. You just need to do a one-time Consultation first which includes 30 min of instruction. If you have any trouble or any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Can I book two dogs at once?

You may have 2 dogs in one consultation, if you have been dock diving with any organization - consultation may not be required. Inquire with us.

What if I can’t make the appointment but I’ve paid?

You have 24 hours prior to reschedule for another time slot and day. This is done all online.

I have signed up for a consultation as a first step and I’m hoping this means my dog will get wet. Is the consultation like an initial lesson?

Yes, you will have 30 min of instruction and guidance, all in the water - 5 min speech first and a waiver to sign.

What’s the best age to get started at dock diving? We have a 10-month-old Whippet puppy and will be interested in trying dock diving with him in the future.

You can start swimming puppies early. If they are eager to go off the dock, they can; Moderation and confidence are key. Puppies are allowed to compete at 6 months old. You are welcome to book a consultation and we will walk you through the process. I would probably wait for warmer weather, like July and August to give the best opportunity for your puppy.

Does the instructor go in the pool with the dogs?

The object is to get the dogs in the pool; sometimes they respond amazingly to toys and sometimes encouragement, however, sometimes the owner in the water is the best reward. We haven’t had very many owners who need to go into the pool. If your dogs like to swim and especially if they like to retrieve toys, it’s an easy transfer. If they have never been swimming before, then it could be more of a challenge - Every dog is different and we do have a lot of tools in our arsenal to help.

What are your training hours?

We are open 11 am to 9 pm -last appointment - 7 days a week. 12 months of the year. Contact us directly to ensure we aren’t away for competitions.

Are your lessons rain or shine?

Yes, they most certainly are. New indoor facilities opening soon.

I had a 1yr old at the river last year but leashed only. I’d like to have him swimming. He’s an intact male, so not sure of other dogs but he’s super friendly for the most part. What do you think?

Perfect start if they like water for sure. When you book your first-time consultation, it will only be you and the dog as we currently have a strict 6ft between all dogs at ALL times. There will not be an issue with other dogs at all. Through the first consultation, we will give you enough guidance and tools to proceed with the sport of dock diving.

What are consultations and do we need them?

Your consultation is a full 30 min guidance and lessons which will give you the tools you need to work with your dog in the water.

Should I bring a life jacket?

We do sell life jackets at the pool and they are also available for first-time use.

Should I bring water toys?

Please bring your own toys, however, we will have water toys for sale at the pool.

What if my dog doesn’t have the confidence to swim or jump?

Not all dogs will take to the water naturally. We do the best we can to work with the dog’s confidence and how fun the water can be.

I have 2 dogs: an 11 yr old & a 2 yr old. They both know how to swim but don’t love it. I’m not looking to do sports, I just want them to be more confident in the water. Would I need to book two initial sessions?

You only need to book one session for both of your dogs. With your time, you have 30 min to swim the dogs at your leisure.

My small dog is reactive to dogs he doesn’t know. Would that be a problem?

We have a very strict 6’ rule for all dogs to be on a leash - Your time is Your time. Nobody else will be in your session. Just you and your dogs.

DIVING DOGS

What are Diving Dogs?

Diving dogs is a canine sport in which dogs are enticed to run the length of a dock and leap as far out into the water as possible to compete for height or distance. They’re motivated to fly with a prized toy, which is thrown just out of reach in order to help them keep their momentum and get the best launch angle possible.

Why dock dive?

Dock diving is a great sport for any breed, size, and age of dog! Whether you're competing, or just looking to spend quality time with your dog, either way, it's a magnificent experience. If your dog loves to swim, then it'll love the sport! And if not, most love it after they're conditioned to jumping into the water.

What kind of stick is used for competition?

Now available at all Paw Street Market locations, the NERF Dog Competition Bumper. This official toy is the ONLY one allowed in Air Retrieve.

What is Air Retrieve?

The goal is for the dog to run, jump, and knock the bumper off the magnets. The dog does not have to grab the toy, just knocks it off. After every successful grab (or knock-off), the rig that is used to hold the bumper is moved out further from the dock in 1' increments. The dog will make another attempt.
